After the German empire had been gone down, the 1st emperor car with the original number 1 was preserved in the Verkehrs- und Baumuseum in Berlin. The car was painted with green colour and golden trim lines, but without the emperor emblem. After the waggon was repainted with white and blue colours around 1934/1935, the emperor emblems had been placed again. In contrast to the dark blue, which is the current colour of this waggon, which resides in the Deutsches Technik Museum in Berlin today, the black-white photos from 1935 suggest a much lighter blue colour. This conclusion also results from a coloured detail photo in "Der Hofzug Sr. Majestt des Deutschen Kaisers, Knigs von Preussen" by Alfred Gottwald, which shows this light blue colour which has been uncovered when restoring this waggon in 1993. The waggon was covered with a green colour when beeing used by the soviet occupying power after the 2nd world war. Afterwards, the former emperor car was still used as a saloon car by the GDR state railway for several years.

The Royal saloon car 2" of the empress with a dark green delivery resides in the DB academy at Potsdam (within the old emperor railway station). The newest Royal saloon car 2a of the empress was restored by LHB at Salzgitter for the factory museum with a white and light blue delivery. Finally, the former Royal entourage car 5A" for gentlemen still exists at the seaside resort Ahlbeck (also with white and light blue delivery) and is owned by the railway friends of Usedom.
